The Cocoa Beach Woman’s Club has plenty to celebrate as we not only secured one of the top awards at the 2024 GFWC FL Spring Convention, but also brought home some other noteworthy awards based on our superb artwork and annual reports that were written by our board members and CSP chairs from the information received from all of our members.

Marilyn Bollo, Julia George, Wendy Gordon, Pam Johnson, Marge Jones and Denise Veyvoda were present to experience our own Clare Jones receive the GFWC FL Volunteer of the Year Award as she represented our club and our District in that category and also as a LEADS Candidate. I believe the committee in charge of making the decision read Clare’s letter of recommendation and concluded it was a No Brainer – Clare L. Jones – Web Master, Newspaper Editor, Diverse Portfolio of Volunteering, Influencer, Leader, Winner – Hands Down.
When you look at the categories where our club received awards, you will see how Clare’s involvement figured prominently. Way to go Clare! We don’t think you are the best – We know you are the best!

2023 Reporting Period our club participated in Category 3.

Last but not least, I would just like to say that this year’s convention was big, bold and exciting with an excellent keynote speaker. Jacqueline Berger known as ‘The First Ladies Lady’ delivered a slideshow presentation highlighting 6 First Ladies who epitimized each of our Community Service Programs and how they used their platform for the betterment of our nation, She has written two biographical books, Loves, Lies and Tears & The Lives of America’s First, that should be on all of our reading lists. In closing, I would like to say, if you have a chance to attend a GFWC FL convention, please take it. You will learn so much, and have a chance to bond with other Districts and who knows you may be inspired one day to take on a state leadership role.
