On April 16th three members of the Cocoa Beach Woman’s Club (Pam Johnson, Bernadette Hansen. and Joan Friedman) along with other members from Class 29, completed a 15 week course hosted by the Cocoa Beach Police Department.
We celebrated our success and our newfound knowledge with our City of Cocoa Beach dignitaries at the Cocoa Beach Country Club.
The Citizen’s Academy is a look into the internal values, philosophy and operations of the City of Cocoa Beach Government, and is designed for City residents.
Classes run for fourteen (14) weeks on Tuesday evenings, one (1) session a week for approximately three (3) hours each, and one (1) Saturday session.
Participants gain knowledge and insight of each department through discussions, demonstrations and site visits and include a variety of topics and issues that pertain to the City of Cocoa Beach.
The course was so intense and so much fun that a number of us wanted it to continue and left us asking ourselves “What are we going to do with our Tuesday Nights?”
This year the city actually put us, (Cocoa Beach Woman’s Club), on their agenda and we were able to share the History and Philosophy of the CBWC.
Highly Recommended!
