October Meeting – Visit from Heath Profit from Women’s Center of Brevard

Another wonderful monthly meeting at Cocoa Beach Woman’s Club.

Heather Profit, Women’s Center of Brevard, was our speaker. Opening its doors on on March 8, 1975, International Women’s Day, the Women’s Center of Brevard strives to address the needs of women, men and children who have faced trauma related to domestic violence & sexual assault by giving them a step up towards safe, healthy, self-sufficient lives.

Everyday, residents of Brevard come to us without the ability to provide for themselves and their families. These women, men and children often are abused and battered, and looking for advocacy, guidance, and support. Thanks to our loyal supporters and volunteers who give so much of their time and resources, and the benefits of grant awards, the Women’s Center is able to provide counseling services, financial assistance, career guidance, job training, transitional housing, and victim advocacy. The Center is proud to be able to help thousands of people annually who seek out our assistance.

Our club wore purple as the nationally recognized color of domestic violence, representing courage, peace, and dedicated to ending violence which often includes physical, mental, sexual, emotional and/or financial abuse.
