CELEBRATING MARYILN GRIGSBY ON HER 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF BEING PART OF THE COCOA BEACH WOMAN’S CLUB
It is very fitting that we give special recognition of the longest serving member of the Cocoa Beach Woman’s Club. Marilyn Grigsby!

Sally Kramer, District 6 Director, pays tribute to Marilyn Grigsby.
Congratulations to Marilyn Grigsby as she celebrates her 60th anniversary of being affiliated with the Cocoa Beach Woman’s Club. Sixty years ago, the CBWC felt that the idea of service to the community was worthy and credible, and for this reason we laid the foundation for a woman’s club in Cocoa Beach.

Marilyn has always held a very active role in the CBWC. She has held the office of President of the Junior’s Club as well as been the President in 1986-1988 and then again in 2015-2017. She eventually found her niche as the Treasurer of the CBWC where she still holds the office to this day. You will always find Marilyn supporting each and every one of the fundraisers where she is the first person to show up and the last person to leave as she goes about her treasury duties.
But that is not to say that Marilyn has not also headed up numerous State and District Offices as she served for 29 years on the State Board and through the many hats, she has worn in her professional life spotlighted many enterprises that became GFWC signature programs for our State. Her successes and her accomplishments are many. Here are just a few projects that Marilyn has spearheaded.
As the Former Director of Hacienda Girl’s Ranch, she brought awareness to Child Abuse and Domestic Violence and traveled around the state making speeches and collecting checks to help support the cause for prevention.

Marilyn has always been very hands on when it comes to the Cocoa Beach Community. She has launched numerous Community Project Initiatives and liaised with many Cocoa Beach dignitaries to get the ball rolling in the city of Cocoa Beach. The money the CBWC has raised through the years consists of Scholarships for CB Jr/Sr HS, Women Returning to the work place and other worthy recipients, building a community center, preservation of the hammock in our parks, ensuring safety for children by providing sidewalks along Minuteman Causeway and a safe haven for them to celebrate their success called Project Graduation, and last but far from least, presented the City of Cocoa Beach the deed to the club’s land valued at $500,000.
Marilyn Grigsby as the President of the Space Coast Art Festival, Brevard’s longest running art festival has successfully worked to bring fine artists to our area to display their work, and each year our club sponsors a popular Student Art Show which encourages Brevard Students to explore their talents.
Marilyn, a former teacher, was part of a group that began working to create Special Olympics Florida in 1970. She was there at its founding in 1972 and served on its board until 1989. From 1975 to 1979, she was board president.
A creative and relentless volunteer fundraiser, she traveled the state persuading business leaders, civic groups, and lawmakers to support Special Olympics Florida. Today it has found a place under our Health and Wellness CSP.
So, Marilyn today we honor you. Every idea you shared, every opportunity you seized, every contribution you made over the years, helped the CBWC achieve new heights of success. Kudos to your unwavering dedication and commitment. Thank you for making the CBWC proud!
