Volunteer of the Year – Marilyn Bollo

Cocoa Beach Woman’s Club Volunteer of the Year – Marilyn Bollo

Marilyn Bollo

2022-23

Marilyn has been instrumental this past year in growing directly, or indirectly, the club membership by twenty percent, including myself.

She recognized the need to bring in some new, enthusiastic members with the goal of increasing participation in club activities, enthusing new ideas and energy.

Marilyn is the lead in our Education and Scholarship committee, no small task when our main fundraising each year is dedicated to our scholastic donations.

As the third vice president, she has also organized each of the groups responsible for hosting our monthly meetings, liaising with each team about theme, catering and set-up and clean down. These have all been very successful and, more importantly, enjoyable!

This past year she single-handedly created a brand new and very successful gift card fundraiser. She worked tirelessly on ticket creation, sales activity, and monies collection.

Marilyn always steps forward to help in club activities and fundraising. She walked the Cocoa Beach Christmas Street Parade with our HOBY scholarship winner and our car-parking fundraiser even though she has had a bothersome hip this past year.

She is always first to make donations to the other CSP activities, participating in all our programs for veterans, schools and the homeless this past year.

Marilyn also made a large financial donation to Boggy Creek.

Lastly Marilyn is a great friend. I’m blessed to have her in my life as a bit of a surrogate Mum (mine is in England). She showers people with love and care, and although she won’t appreciate this nomination because she hates recognition, she really deserves it.
CLARE JONES

When our President, Carol Osler, passed away unexpectedly, Marilyn Bollo did not hesitate to volunteer to offer any and all assistance to make the transition a smooth one.

She excelled on all her duties as 3rd VP, volunteered to take the lead as Education and Libraries Chairman and went over and beyond to bring our past president’s vision of a new fundraiser to fruition.

Marilyn is a well-spoken and thoughtful born leader, who utilizes her power of persuasion and can-do attitude to conquer every club related task.

When we asked our club to vote for the person who best fits the description of Volunteer of the Year, she came close to receiving a unanimous victory.

Marilyn has truly won the love and respect of all of our club members.
PAM JOHNSON, President.
